MEET THE ARTIST
From Art therapy IN 2001 to a full-time calling.
Christine Cloutier is a French-Canadian painter who has lived in Kelowna, British Columbia, since 2003. Raised in Ste-Anne-des-Monts, Quebec, she discovered painting through art therapy in 2001 and committed fully to her practice in 2008. She works in abstract realism with oil and mixed media.
From 2012 to 2019, she taught painting workshops and painted live at churches and women’s conferences. In 2025 she completed the Milan Art Master Program, which expanded her work into portraits and landscapes.
She held her solo show A New Era in Kelowna in 2021, has exhibited at Lake Country ARTWALK and Peachland Art Village, and won Third Place in the People’s Choice Award at the Art Gallery of Osoyoos for A Taste of Freedom.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Painting found me when I needed healing, and it taught me to listen to intuition, to colour, to what I see in my spirit. That is still how I work. I begin freely, layering colour and texture without a plan, then slowly bring forms into the light with oil until the painting reveals what it came to say.
I paint stories of resilience, surrender, and becoming, often through women and sometimes through landscapes, always with the same purpose: that every woman who stands before my work feels seen, loved, and chosen.
For my collectors, each painting is both artwork and invitation: to transform spaces into sanctuaries of beauty, belonging, and empowerment.

Collectors can discover how Christine’s creative process weaves intuition with technique. She begins with loose, layered mixed-media backgrounds, experimenting with acrylics, markers, spray paint, stencils, or collage.
She then photographs the work to refine composition digitally, sketch shapes or block darker areas, and build depth with opaque colours, palette knife textures, and finishing details in oil. The result is a vibrant, layered expression of colour, movement, and emotion.
